About Maul and this Scene

Jinn, Kenobi, Skywalker, the Queen, and the the rest of their entourage flew to Coruscant after leaving Tatooine.  The Queen addressed the Senate while Qui-Gon addressed the Council.  Jinn informed the other Masters about the attack on Tatooine and that he concluded the attacker could only be a Sith Lord.

Before the Queen left Coruscant to return to her homeworld of Naboo, Jinn stood before the Jedi Council once more.  He was instructed to return with the Queen to Naboo and learn the identity of the Dark Lord so as to unravel the mystery of the Sith.  The Council knew of the Rule of Two, and they were left curious whether the Sith was the Master or the Apprentice.
